Torres makes Euro 2020 team of the round as Spain find form

Spain and Switzerland played out entertaining wins over Croatia and France, respectively, to book their place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 and the pair have three representatives between them in the WhoScored team of the round.

Thibaut Courtois (Belgium) - 7.82

Belgium set up a quarter-final meeting with Italy with a hard fought win over Portugal on Sunday night, with Thorgan Hazard's thundering first half strike enough to separate the two European powerhouse's in Seville. Thibaut Courtois made the 1-0 win possible with a solid rearguard display as he made four saves in the victory, and even completed a dribble against Portugal, to kick off the last-16 best XI with a WhoScored rating of 7.82.

Cesar Azpilicueta (Spain) - 8.14

Having made his first Spain appearance in almost three years in La Roja's 5-0 win over Slovakia last week, Cesar Azpilicueta followed that up with his first ever international goal in their entertaining 5-3 win over Croatia. The experienced Chelsea man has ousted Marcos Llorente at right-back under Luis Enrique and justified his selection with a performance on Monday that warranted a WhoScored that of 8.14.

Francesco Acerbi (Italy) - 7.94

Given Giorgio Chiellini's return to fitness, Francesco Acerbi is set to make way for Italy's quarter-final meeting with Belgium, but the Lazio man put in a fine defensive showing for the Azzurri in their last-16 extra time win over Austria. The 33-year-old found a teammate with 91.9% of his 86 attempted passes at Wembley while five clearances, four interceptions and two tackles saw Acerbi secure his spot in the defence in this XI with a WhoScored rating of 7.94.

Tomas Kalas (Czech Republic) - 7.92

The first of two Czech Republic players to make the cut, Tomas Kalas excelled at the heart of the defence in their 2-0 last-16 win over the Netherlands. The 28-year-old was proactive in his approach to defend the Czech goal, making five clearances, and provided the assist for Tomas Holes to put his side ahead to help earn a WhoScored rating of 7.92.

Joakim Maehle (Denmark) - 8.66

Rounding off the defence is the first of two Denmark representatives. Joakim Maehle scored his second goal of Euro 2020 in the Danish Dynamite's 4-0 thumping of Wales as he netted with one of two shots on Saturday. The Atalanta man broke forward well down the left as he completed three dribbles over the weekend to feature with a WhoScored rating of 8.66.

Ferran Torres (Spain) - 9.05

With a rating of 9.05, Ferran Torres is the WhoScored player of the round. The youngster provided his first assist of the tournament in Spain's 5-3 win over Croatia, teeing up Cesar Azpilicueta to net in Copenhagen, and, with 13 minutes to go, scored his second goal of Euro 2020. Torres' assist came from one of four key passes - no player made more in the last-16 round of games - to help the 21-year-old land the award.

Paul Pogba (France) - 9.04

One player unfortunate to be leaving Euro 2020 is Paul Pogba. The midfielder was superb in France's eventual penalty shooutout defeat to Switzerland, hitting the back of the net with 15 minutes to play with a wonderful long range effort. No player completed more dribbles than Pogba (5) in the last-16 games to help the 28-year-old to a WhoScored rating of 9.04.

Tomas Holes (Czech Republic) - 8.90

Czech Republic hero Tomas Holes joins Pogba in the middle of the park having garnered a WhoScored rating of 8.90 in their 2-0 win over the Netherlands. Holes put his nation ahead in the second half and turned provider superbly for Patrik Schick to net his fourth goal of the competition, those coming from respective returns of two shots and two key passes. Off the ball, the 28-year-old excelled as he made four tackles and one interception.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (Ukraine) - 8.95

Like Holes for the Czech Republic, Oleksandr Zinchenko had a direct hand in both Ukraine goals in their 2-1 win over Sweden to set up a quarter-final meeting with England. The Manchester City star got on the end of a superb Andriy Yarmolenko cross to bury past Robin Olsen and turned provider at the death for Artem Dovbyk to send the Ukraine into the next round. Zinchenko's goal and assist came from respective returns of one shot and one key pass, while an additional three tackles saw him land a WhoScored rating of 8.95.

Kasper Dolberg (Denmark) - 8.82

The second Denmark player in the team of the round features on the frontline. Kasper Dolberg made the most of his first Euro 2020 start, netting twice on his old stomping ground the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Dolberg hit the back of the net with two of four shots in Denmark's 4-0 win over Wales, while two dribbles and two tackles saw the striker return a WhoScored rating of 8.82.

Haris Seferovic (Switzerland) - 8.53

The sole Switzerland representative in the team of the round is striker Haris Seferovic. After two sub-par showings to kick off Euro 2020, the Benfica man has found his groove, netting twice against France on Monday night. Seferovic's brace came from three shots and he defended solidly, too, making four clearances as he joins Dolberg in attack with a WhoScored rating of 8.53.
