Everton vs Southampton - Full match preview

The Toffees’ first match at Goodison Park under Marco Silva is certainly one that the Portuguese will be confident of winning. Everton were strong at home last season after all, winning ten times, while Saints picked up all three points on just three occasions away from home. Both sides will be aiming to build on the draws that they earned in the opening games, but while the visitors improved when new signings Mohamed Elyounousi and Danny Ings entered the fray last week and should threaten, home advantage should prove to be the difference.

Leicester vs Wolves - Full match preview

There was enough in Leicester’s performance at Old Trafford last Friday to suggest that Claude Puel’s men will be worth watching this season, and with Jamie Vardy returning to the starting line-up the Foxes have their bite back. Wolves, meanwhile, will have been slightly disappointed not to have exploited the fact that Everton were reduced to ten-men to earn all three points but did come back twice to pick up a point. Another at the King Power Stadium would represent a decent result and goals at both ends look like a certainty.

West Ham vs Bournemouth - Full match preview

The Hammers were humbled at Anfield last weekend and the pressure is on new manager Manuel Pellegrini to make a winning start at home against a team that the fans will expect to beat after a summer of spending. Bournemouth, however, proved that familiarity can be a real asset at this early stage of the season and could name an XI without a single new face this weekend. Playing at home hasn’t always been an advantage for West Ham, and a repeat of the stalemate at the London Stadium back in January could be on the cards.

It’s fair to say Unai Emery’s first match in charge of Arsenal could have gone worse, eventually weathering an early Manchester City storm to keep the scoreline respectable, but things don’t get a great deal easier this weekend. Chelsea looked strong in their opening game at Huddersfield after all, winning 3-0, and will likely welcome star man Eden Hazard back into the starting line-up. Back-to-back games without a goal would be a disappointing start for the Gunners, regardless of the opposition, so they’ll be keen to get off the mark in that sense but are unlikely to come away with any points.

Burnley vs Watford

On the face of it, Burnley’s 0-0 draw against Southampton was entirely predictable but the game was far from the damp squib that the scoreline suggested. Nevertheless, another low scoring affair is to be expected against Watford, with the Clarets in Europa League action on Thursday night and perhaps a little fatigued as a result. The Hornets, meanwhile, picked up a straightforward win against Brighton but they have failed to score in their last three visits to Turf Moor and we think that will become four this Sunday.

Brighton vs Manchester United - Full match preview

It was a disappointing start to the season for Brighton last weekend, who were well beaten at Watford and will be glad to be back at the Amex Stadium. Chris Hughton’s team were tough to break down at home last season, losing only four times, and picked up a 1-0 win in this fixture back in May. United weren’t entirely convincing against Leicester but picked up the win in typical fashion under Mourinho and a similar outcome looks likely here, with a narrow away victory our tip.
