Quintet of 2018 World Cup hopefuls on the rise on Football INDEX

Everyday, Football INDEX highlights the five biggest market movers over a 24-hour period. Here are the current five at the time of writing:

1. RODNEY WALLACE (NEW YORK CITY FC)

Rodney Wallace is due to leave MLS franchise New York City FC imminently to join up with the Costa Rica squad for the 2018 World Cup.

The 29-year-old will be looking to make an impact in Russia after a serious knee injury ruled him out of the 2014 World Cup.

Wallace, who plays out wide on both flanks, has struggled to nail down a regular starting berth for NYCFC this season.

Patrick Vieira’s side have made a strong start to the season, but Wallace has only started four of their opening 12 matches, making a further four appearances from the bench.

Despite a difficult start to the campaign, Wallace’s Football INDEX share price has increased 54.19% in the last 24 hours.

Even though his share price is only £0.33, do not consider Wallace for your Football INDEX portfolios.

2. RAUL RUIDIAZ (MONARCAS MORELIA)

News that Peru captain Paolo Guerrero will miss the 2018 World Cup has opened up a chance for someone else to impress for the South American outfit this summer.

Raul Ruidiaz is one of three Peru players that have picked up traction in the last 24 hours on Football INDEX. The 27-year-old’s share price has increased 42.42% in that time, now standing at £0.35.

The Monarcas striker has not set the world alight on the international stage as of yet, netting only four goals in 29 caps since making his debut for Peru in 2011.

Peru will believe they have a chance of progressing from their World Cup group this summer, but Ruidiaz is not a player that should be considered for your Football INDEX portfolio.

3. CHRISTIAN CUEVA (SAO PAULO)

The second Peru player to make the five biggest market risers on Football INDEX is Sao Paulo midfielder Christian Cueva.

Cueva’s only previous major tournament experience came at the Copa America in 2016, starting in all four of their games.

Guerrero’s absence means the 26-year-old is the third highest goalscorer in Peru’s provisional squad for the 2018 World Cup.

With that, a lot will be expected of Cueva if Peru are to escape Group C next month.

Cueva has made a positive start to the season with Sao Paulo, providing two assists in three league appearances thus far.

His Football INDEX share price has increased 33.61% in the last 24 hours and he should come into consideration for your portfolios, at just £0.36 a future.

4. RENATO TAPIA (FEYENOORD)

The third and final Peru international in the five biggest market movers is versatile Feyenoord defender Renato Tapia.

Tapia only started 15 league matches for Feyenoord this summer, but a WhoScored rating of 7.30 suggests he should have played more.

In fact, only Steven Berghuis (7.81) and Sam Larsson (7.33) secured higher WhoScored league ratings for Feyenoord this season.

The 22-year-old will look to use the 2018 World Cup as a platform to launch his career. Impressive showings could even lead to a high profile move this summer.

His Football INDEX share price is only £0.43 and should be considered when adding players to your portfolios.

5. WILLY CABALLERO (CHELSEA)

Now that Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero has been ruled out of the 2018 World Cup, Jorge Sampaoli will need to pick a new No.1 in Russia.

Football INDEX traders firmly believe Chelsea goalkeeper Willy Caballero will get the nod and have acted accordingly.

The 36-year-old’s Football INDEX share price has increased 27.32% since Argentina confirmed Romero’s injury on Tuesday evening.

However, there have also been suggestions that River Plate goalkeeper Franco Armani has a strong chance of being named Argentina’s No.1.

No goalkeeper (5+ apps) secured a higher WhoScored rating in this season’s Superliga than Armani (7.11), so it’s worth holding off if you are considering Caballero on Football INDEX.
