Two newcomers replace Premier League pair from top team form rankings
With two newcomers in the form rankings leaderboard taking the place of Tottenham and Liverpool respectively, WhoScored.com rundown the highest rated teams over the last six league matches in Europe’s top five leagues.
10. Real Betis - Rating change +.03
After a fifth consecutive win at the weekend Quique Setien’s side strengthened their case for a top six finish, having not conceded a single goal in their last four matches. A victory on Friday night at Girona followed by the draw between Sevilla and Villarreal ensured it was a perfect weekend for Betis.
9. Fiorentina - Rating change -.04
While they remain unbeaten over their last six matches, having won the previous five a draw with lowly SPAL was a disappointing result for the Viola, who missed a great opportunity to break into the top six following Milan’s stalemate with Napoli.
8. Manchester City - Rating change -.03
While they returned to winning ways in impressive fashion at Tottenham, crowned Premier League champions following Manchester United’s shock defeat to West Brom, City’s rating drops slightly with the 3-1 win at Wembley displacing a 5-1 victory over Leicester.
7. Juventus - Rating change +.06
After a convincing 3-0 win over Sampdoria, Juve took a huge step to retaining their crown in Serie A having now picked up 16 points from the last 18 available at a time when Napoli have managed just nine.
6. Real Madrid - Rating change +.02
Regaining their place in third in LaLiga, Real Madrid’s win at Malaga wasn’t exactly convincing but it was enough to ensure that they have dropped just two points over the last six matches owing to a draw in the derby against Atletico.
5. Barcelona - Rating change +.09
Rising four places back into the top five here, Barcelona came through a tough examination against in-form Valencia to ensure that they are now on the longest unbeaten run in LaLiga history (39 matches). The victory meant that they need just three wins to claim back the title.
4. Hoffenheim - Rating change +.13
The biggest increase this week comes from Hoffenheim, whose 2-0 win over Hamburg stretched their unbeaten streak to six matches in pursuit of a European finish. After an impressive streak a top four spot isn’t yet out of the question, with their three home wins in that run coming courtesy of 11 goals scored and zero conceded.
3. Lyon - Rating change +.10
A fifth consecutive victory at the weekend kept Lyon clinging onto third spot in an intense battle with Olympique rivals Marseille having beaten OM last month to leapfrog Rudi Garcia’s side. Since then OL have played three, scored ten and haven’s conceded a goal.
2. Paris Saint-Germain - Rating change +.09
To label PSG’s victory over Monaco as emphatic certainly wouldn’t be an understatement, embarrassing the reigning champions to steal their crown with consummate ease, and all without the likes of Neymar and Marco Verratti. The 7-1 victory meant that the Parisians became the first club to reach 100 league goals this season, now on 103 with five games still to play.
1. Bayern Munich - Rating change +.10
When Bayern went one down inside ten minutes against Gladbach it seemed as though they may well be taking their foot off the gas after claiming the Bundesliga title the weekend previous but normality was restored before too long. Indeed, by the time Robert Lewandowski had scored his 27th league goal of the season the champions had earned a 5-1 victory and fifth from the last six games.
When you see Lyon and Paris being at the top, but having a poor European performance in Europa and champions league, I think it reveals how the Ligue 1 is unbalanced and lack of competitivity..
the logo of Lyon and PSG should be the other way around. French teams still have a bit journey before being well known in Europe it seems.
