Form Guide
Manchester United were knocked out of the FA Cup prior to the international break, falling to a 3-1 loss to Leicester to end their 14-match unbeaten run, and they'll be looking to get their season back on track against Brighton tonight. However, while United are unbeaten in nine in the league, they have won just four times in that run, three of which came at Old Trafford.
Back-to-back league wins over Southampton and Newcastle prior to the international break gave Brighton some breathing space in the batte to beat the drop. Currently six points clear of the relegation zone, they'll be hoping the domestic hiatus hasn't derailed their momentum in the business end of the campaign.
Team News
Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood both trained on Friday and are set to make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad, but Anthony Martial is unlikely to feature. Victor Lindelof is another who will be assessed as he continues to struggle with a back issue with Eric Bailly on standby to start should the Swede miss out. Solskjaer also has a decision to make between the sticks.
Danny Welbeck hopes to feature against his former club here, while in-form frontman Leandro Trossard is set to start. Aaron Connolly sustained a knock on international duty and will be assessed, but Graham Potter is without Florin Andone, Tariq Lamptey, Solly March and Adam Webster.
Probable XIs
Manchester United (4231) - De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw; Pogba, Fred; James, Fernandes, Rashford; Cavani
Brighton (3412) - Sanchez; White, Dunk, Burn; Groß, Bissouma, Lallana, Moder; Trossard; Maupay, Welbeck
Key Battle: Victor Lindelof vs Ben White
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has shown that, when fit, Victor Lindelof is first choice alongside Harry Maguire at the heart of the Manchester United defence. Eric Bailly is seen as the better option to some, but Lindelof has the trust of Solskjaer, at least until the end of the season.
And that is because United remain in the market for another centre-back and Solskjaer will get a first hand look at Ben White tonight. White returned to Brighton following an impressive loan stint with Leeds in their promotion push last summer and his performances haven't gone unnoticed either, with United monitoring the 23-year-old, though they would face competition for the Brighton man's services should the Seagulls elect to sell.
Score Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Brighton
