Evergreen Ibrahimovic the star in Serie A as AC Milan fly post-lockdown

As the 2019/20 Serie A campaign came to a head on Sunday, there will have been teams who were disappointed to see the season end. The extended break from March to June may have hindered some teams, but it proved a boost for others. No team took more points than AC Milan (30) post-lockdown, whereas the enforced hiatus played its part in ending Lazio's title chances. 

Here we take a look at the top performing players post-lockdown as they came flying out of the blocks once action resumed in June... 

3. Paulo Dybala (Juventus) - 7.63 rating 

Edging out Hakan Calhanoglu (7.62) for a podium spot, Paulo Dybala was a key player in Juventus' title success. The Argentine may have only had a direct hand in five league goals between the end of lockdown and the end of the season, but his 22 key passes ranked highly, so too did his 20 successful dribbles. Off the ball, Dybala made seven tackles and interceptions combined and won possession in the attacking third nine times as he features in the top three having garnered a WhoScored rating of 7.63. 

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus) - 7.65 rating 

Coming in ahead of Dybala is the WhoScored Serie A player of the season Cristiano Ronaldo. While the Juventus ace was unable to top this particular standing, the 35-year-old was impressive this side of lockdown. Indeed, only Andrea Belotti (12) won possession in the attacking third more times than Ronaldo (11), who scored more goals (10) in that period than any other player in Italy's top tier. Of those 10 goals, eight were deemed to be clear-cut goalscoring chances - no player netted more - and it was enough to see Ronaldo return a WhoScored rating of 7.65. 

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan) - 7.75 rating 

The leading light in these rankings, Zlatan Ibrahimovic was exceptional post-lockdown for AC Milan. Returning at the turn of the year, the experienced Swede has had a positive impact and then some for the Rossoneri and didn't let the break in play impact his performances. In fact, it had quite the opposite effect for Ibrahimovic as he had a direct hand in 11 goals, scoring seven, as AC Milan ended 2019/20 strongly. Indeed, the 38-year-old partners Dybala on the frontline in the top-rated post-lockdown XI having landed a WhoScored rating of 7.75 across his 10 Serie A outings, that better than any other player.
