Rising Arsenal star Martinelli secures spot in European team of the week
There are three Premier League players in the European team of the week as Joao Cancelo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Martinelli, of Manchester City and Arsenal respectively, all make the cut. La Liga pair Villarreal and Valencia are also represented in attack, while European giants Inter and Bayern Munich also have players feature in the XI.
Jeremias Ledesma (Cadiz) - 8.23
Jeremias Ledesma was in inspiring form as Cadiz held Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw at the Bernabeu on Sunday night. The Argentine made nine saves - no goalkeeper has made more in a La Liga match this season - to feature with a WhoScored rating of 8.23.
Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) - 8.96
The first of two Manchester City players in the side, Joao Cancelo was in superb form at St. James' Park in their 4-0 win. He provided the assist for Ruben Dias' opener and then bagged City's second with a thundering effort midway through the first half. Napoli claimed a huge win at AC Milan on Sunday night, with Amir Rrahmani putting in a superb shift at the back. Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich) - 8.36
The second Bayern Munich player in the European team of the week, Serge Gnabry provided his third assist of the season in the 4-0 victory over Wolfsburg, teeing up Leroy Sane on the hour mark. Three key passes and four successful dribbles helped Gnabry to a WhoScored rating of 8.36 to nail down the right wing spot in the side.
Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter) - 9.68
Hakan Calhanoglu has been in inspiring form of late, and played a central role in Inter's 5-0 win at Salernitana on Friday night. A return of 10 key passes is a record in a Serie A match this season, those chances translating to assists for Ivan Perisic and Alexis Sanchez either side of half time.
