Save the date: Six massive matches scheduled in Premier League's return!

In 12 days' time, the Premier League is back and it falls in line with LaLiga and Serie A, the other two of Europe's top leagues that will be coming back this month. Liverpool's lengthy wait for a Premier League title is set to be over in June, much to their supporters' delight, and it may be that they seal success at Goodison Park, but more on that later. 

Here, we take a look at the key fixtures to mark in your calendar over the coming weeks as fans gear up to feast on more Premier League football than they can handle... 

Manchester City vs Arsenal - June 17th 

Back with a bang, this match was intially postponed as a precautionary measure after Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis, who had been in attendance for Arsenal's Europa League meeting with the Greek side the previous week, contracted Coronavirus. The narrative surrounding this clash at the Etihad Stadium, though, comes from the dugout. Mikel Arteta left his role as Pep Guardiola's assistant at Manchester City for Arsenal back in December and while the north London side haven't set the world alight with the Spaniard at the helm, Arteta has at least steadied the ship. 

Indeed, Arsenal are now within five points of Manchester United in fifth with a game in hand, which could be enough to secure a Champions League spot if City's European ban is upheld. There is also the possibility for the Gunners to help Liverpool edge closer to the title if they can spring an upset at the Eithad Stadium. That may prove easier said than done given Arsenal have won only one of their last league matches at City, who in turn have won 28 of their last 33 home games at the Etihad, though given the lenghty break in action, that shouldn't count for much at this stage. 

Unbeaten in seven on the road in the league coming into this clash, Arteta will hope the apprentice can get the better of the master back in Manchester in what promises to be an enthralling tactical match up in a little under two weeks' time. 

Tottenham vs Manchester United - June 19th 

Jose Mourinho was outwitted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when Tottenham met Manchester United at Old Trafford in December and the Portuguese boss will hope to get one over his former employers in this huge Friday night meeting. Spurs are winless in three, so the suspension of football came at a good time for the north London side. Harry Kane, Son Heung-Min and Steven Bergwijn should all be fit to feature in some capacity on June 19th, which is a huge boost for Mourinho. 

Conversely, Solskjaer will have Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba back available, which adds a fresh layer to this crunch tie in the race for the top four. United are a team reborn on the back of Bruno Fernandes' big money arrival from Sporting in January, which doesn't bode well for a Spurs outfit that has kept the joint-fewest clean sheets (4) in the Premier League this season. They can at least count upon their solid home record against United having lost just one of their last seven league meetings with their Premier League counterparts in north London, that coming in a David De Gea-inspired 1-0 win at Wembley last January. 

The returning key players will have a positive effect on this meeting between two Champions League chasing titans in what may prove decisive come the end of the campaign. 

Everton vs Liverpool - June 21st 

Two wins will do it for Liverpool. Two wins from the final nine games to secure the Premier League title. It could be just one if Manchester City slip up against Arsenal and the Reds would love nothing more than to be crowned champions at the home of their fierce city rivals. A Merseyside Derby to round off the action on June 21st could be the one that seals Liverpool's first top-flight championship since 1990. On the other hand, Everton would love the opportunity to delay Liverpool's push for domestic glory and spare their own blushes at Goodison Park. 

The Toffees are much improved since Carlo Ancelotti's appointment and, given the rustiness of the Reds, who are a far better side when the games come thick and fast and they can use the momentum in their favour, Everton will feel confident of a first Merseyside Derby win at Goodison Park since 2010. Unbeaten in seven on home turf, Ancelotti's side won't want to simply roll over and accept their fate against the champions elect. 

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace - June 24th 

Remaining on Merseyside and this time with Liverpool's welcome of Crystal Palace. The Reds will have unhappy memories of the Miracle of Crystanbul, where Liverpool threw away a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with the Eagles to end their 2013/14 title push. And things could come full circle on June 24th provided results pan out as many expect. 

Liverpool's welcome of Palace could be the match that sees their long-awaited Premier League title drought come to an end. However, Anfield has been something of a happy hunting ground in recent seasons for the south London side. Indeed, Palace have won three of their last five trips to Liverpool, though they have lost the last two, including an entertaining 4-3 defeat to the Reds in this match last season. 

Jurgen Klopp will have his players focused on the end game here and it is likely to be this game, rather than the Merseyside Derby three days earlier, where Liverpool secure their crown. 

Chelsea vs Manchester City - June 25th 

Manchester City are likely to have lost their Premier League title the previous day and a downbeat Cityzens side make the trip to Chelsea with the aim of finishing as high as possible should their European ban be overturned. The Blues may yet fancy their chances of finishing above Leicester in the table as they sit just five points behind the out-of-form Foxes and this meeting at Stamford Bridge is likely to be pivotal in their push to finish Frank Lampard's debut season in the west London helm as high as possible. 

However, Chelsea's record against the established Big Six in the Premier League leaves little to the imagination with just one win in four against Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham on home turf. Like the Blues at home against the Big Six, though, City's record on the road currently sits at just one win in four, that coming at Arsenal in December, so, even before the Coronavirus pandemic halted football, this encounter was always a tough one to call. 

Manchester City vs Liverpool - July 2nd 

What would have once been billed as a title decider, Liverpool are likely to have been crowned champions by the time their meeting with Manchester City at the Etihad rolls around on July 2nd. Rounding off the next could of weeks of football in fine fashion, City are likely to form a guard of honour for the Reds here. 

While little may be at stake in terms of the title race, Liverpool will still be looking to get the better of Pep Guardiola's side at the Etihad Stadium for just the second time in their last 11 Premier League visits to City. Having won 12 of their 14 away league matches this season prior to the Premier League's suspension, Jurgen Klopp is likely to demand his players maintain their high standards to really drive their title success home.
