Man Utd creative star Fernandes makes Euro 2024 qualification team of the round
Manchester United and Manchester City are both represented in the Euro 2024 qualification team of the round after Portugal and Norway secured impressive wins over Slovakia and Cyprus, respectively. Here, we take a look at the best XI from the latest round of games.
Etrit Berisha (Albania) - 8.55
Albania extended their lead at the top of Group E to four points as they beat Czechia 3-0 on Thursday night. Etrit Berisha put in a solid showing between the sticks as he made seven saves and won an additional three aerial duels to feature in the XI with a WhoScored rating of 8.55.
Amar Dedic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) - 8.26
Right-back Amar Dedic put in a player of the match performance as Bosnia and Herzegovina beat Liechtenstein 2-0 on Friday night. Dedic was unable to contribute to a goal, though it wasn't for want of trying as he created five goalscoring chances and managed three shots. With three tackles, too, the 21-year-old is good value for his inclusion with a WhoScored rating of 8.26.
Daniels Balodis (Latvia) - 8.36
Daniels Balodis earned the player of the match award in Latvia's 2-0 win over Armenia. Balodis scored Latvia's second midway through the second half on Thursday, netting with one of three efforts on goal. The 25-year-old was key in attaining the clean sheet, too, as he made four clearances and one tackle to land a WhoScored rating of 8.36.
Samet Akaydin (Turkiye) - 8.10
Baris Yilmaz was the hero for Turkiye as he bagged the only goal of the game in their 1-0 win in Croatia on Thursday night, while at the other end of the pitch; Samet Akaydin put in a solid rearguard display to ensure the clean sheet. With six clearances, five tackles and two interceptions, Akaydin did all he could to successfully keep the Croatia attack at bay, and found a teammate well as he completed 93% of his 43 attempted passes to make the cut.
Pijus Sirvys (Lithuania) - 9.13
The star player in Lithuania's 2-0 win in Bulgaria, Pijus Sirvys netted either side of half time for the Rinktine. The 25-year-old's brace came from three shots, while additional returns of eight clearances, four interceptions and one tackle helped return a WhoScored rating of 9.13.
With a WhoScored rating of 9.84, Milot Rashica is the Euro 2024 qualifying player of the round. The 27-year-old was directly involved in all three goals in Kosovo's 3-0 win over Andorra, following up his brace with the assist for Altin Zeqiri's 84th minute strike. Those came from respective returns of six shots and three key passes, while two successful dribbles capped a memorable display.
Fredrik Aursnes (Norway) - 8.67
The first of two Norway players to make the XI, Fredrik Aursnes was directly involved in two of their four goals in their 4-0 win at Cyprus. The Benfica midfielder followed up his assist for Erling Haaland midway through the second half with a goal late on from respective returns of three key passes and three shots to help yield a WhoScored rating of 8.67.
Bruno Fernandes (Portugal) - 8.65
Rounding off the midfield is Portugal star Bruno Fernandes. The 29-year-old registered assists number six and seven of Euro 2024 qualification as Portugal secured a 3-2 win over Slovakia in a player of the match performance. Dodi Lukebakio (Belgium) - 9.32
Belgium inflicted defeat upon Austria for the first time in Euro 2024 qualification as the Red Devils secured a 3-2 win at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion.
