1. CLAUDIO BEAUVUE (LEGANES)

Signed on loan from Spanish rivals Celta Vigo last summer, Leganes would have hoped for a better return from striker Claudio Beauvue this season.

The 30-year-old has only scored two goals in 26 league appearances for Leganes this season, who languish down in 14th with three games remaining.

Beauvue has only started one of Leganes’ last seven matches, but should now be afforded a run in the first-team in their remaining fixtures.

First choice striker Gabriel Pires was sent off against Real Madrid at the weekend, paving the way for Beauvue to return to the starting XI.

As a result, Beauvue’s Football INDEX share price has increased 23.19% in the last day of trading, the biggest increase during that period.

However, Leganes have already secured their top-flight status for next season and have nothing left to play for. Do not add Beauvue to your portfolio.

2. BRYAN CRISTANTE (ATALANTA)

It emerged on Monday that London rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are tracking Bryan Cristante with a view to making a summer move for the Atalanta midfielder.

The 23-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham and Manchester United and it only feels like a matter of time before he makes a high profile switch.

Cristante has enjoyed an impressive first full season as a professional after being eased into the Atalanta first-team last season and is now starting to knock on the door for the Italian national team.

The Atalanta midfielder played a direct hand in two goals in their 3-1 win over Genoa at the weekend, notching his ninth league goal of the season.

In fact, only Lazio duo Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (11) have scored more goals of central midfielders in Serie A this term.

3. AINSLEY MAITLAND-NILES (ARSENAL)

Arsenal fielded their youngest starting XI in seven years, but it wasn’t the doom and gloom many expected as their youngsters impressed at the Theatre of Dreams.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles was the standout performer for the Gunners, thriving in his preferred central midfield role having previously been used as a full-back this season.

The 20-year-old will hope to feature in Arsenal’s remaining league matches as Wenger’s side focus their attention on winning the Europa League.

However, the north London outfit are on course to crash out of Europe and it represents a gamble to add Maitland-Niles to your Football INDEX portfolio.

4. BRUNO FERNANDES (SPORTING CP)

Sporting haven’t won Liga NOS since 2002 and their wait looks set to continue this season, as Porto close in on the title.

Despite that, Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes has enjoyed a breathtaking campaign for the Portuguese giants.

The 23-year-old has played a direct hand in 19 goals from midfield this season, including 11 goals.

Fernandes scored both goals in Sporting’s 2-1 win away to Portimonense, including a late winner, to give Jorge Jesus’ a glimmer of hope in the title race.

Furthermore, only Rio Ave ace Joao Novais (6) has scored more goals from outside the box than Fernandes (5) in Liga NOS this season.

Fernandes will be knocking on the door for a starting berth at the 2018 World Cup for Portugal and that could lead to a big money move in the summer.

5. SANTI CAZORLA (ARSENAL)

After being put through his paces on the Emirates pitch prior to Arsenal’s Europa League semi-final first leg against Atletico Madrid last week, Santi Cazorla is now targeting a first-team return.

Last appearing for Arsenal in October 2016, the last two years has been nothing short of a disaster for Cazorla, who has endured numerous surgeries to try and correct an on-going Achilles problem.

Arsenal have really missed Cazorla’s presence in midfield during that period, but the 33-year-old is hopeful of returning to the pitch before the end of the season.

Cazorla is, however, running out of time to prove his fitness, as Arsenal only have four games remaining.
