Jordan Pickford (Everton) - 7.94

England international goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was the hero for Everton on Saturday evening, as he denied former club-mate Anthony Gordon from the penalty spot shortly before half-time. That save, along with two others throughout the match, helped the Toffees to a valuable clean sheet and point at home to Newcastle, stretching their unbeaten run to three league matches.

Nathan Collins (Brentford) - 8.39

The first of four Brentford players to make our Team of the Week is defender Nathan Collins, whose first league goal of the season put the Bees ahead against Wolves inside two minutes of Saturday’s clash. The Ireland international headed home a Mikkel Damsgaard cross, finding the net with one of his two attempts on goal. Collins also contributed with nine clearances, and won all seven of the duels he contested.

Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) - 8.04

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk helped his side to their fifth clean sheet of the season in just their seventh game, as the Reds claimed a narrow victory away at Crystal Palace on Saturday. The Netherlands international made two clearances, three interceptions and won nine of the 10 duels he contested.

Ethan Pinnock (Brentford) - 7.87

Joining Nathan Collins in our three-man defensive line is Brentford team-mate Ethan Pinnock, who also netted his first league goal of the campaign in Saturday’s entertaining victory at home to Wolves. In all, the 31-year-old made two tackles, five clearances, two interceptions and three ball recoveries, on his way to a WhoScored rating of 7.87.

Bukayo Saka (Arsenal) - 9.41

With a WhoScored rating of 9.41, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is our Premier League Player of the Week, following an outstanding display at home to Southampton. The 23-year-old was directly involved in each of the Gunners’ three goals on Saturday afternoon, providing assists for Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli before finding the net himself with a classic finish.

Mikkel Damsgaard (Brentford) - 8.91

After providing two assists in Saturday’s win over Wolves, Brentford midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard earns a place in our Team of the Week. The Denmark international made a total of six key passes, three tackles, two clearances and five ball recoveries, to earn a WhoScored rating of 8.91.

Vitaly Janelt (Brentford) - 7.79

Damsgaard is joined in our midfield by Brentford team-mate Vitaly Janelt, who was also on hand to provide an assist in Saturday’s victory. With one of his two key passes on the afternoon, the 26-year-old found Christian Norgaard for Brentford’s third goal; he also made a tackle, four clearances and six ball recoveries, in an all-action display.

Mateo Kovacic (Manchester City) - 8.26

The star for champions Manchester City over the weekend was midfielder Mateo Kovacic, who stepped up in the absence of the injured Rodri to fire home two goals against Fulham at the Etihad Stadium. Kovacic brought City level shortly before half-time, before scoring again two minutes into the second period to give them the lead - finding the net with his only two attempts on goal.
