All change in rankings as former Liverpool player is Europe's in-form star
There are changes aplenty atop the player form rankings in Europe’s top five leagues, with the likes of Eden Hazard and Lionel Messi dropping out due to injury.
There’s new leader as a result, and it isn’t one of the usual suspects this time around. While the likes of Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo sit second and fourth respectively, with the Brazilian returning to the leaderboard having missed the win over Amiens.
At the top of the pile is AC Milan playmaker Suso, whose goal and assist in the 3-2 victory over Sampdoria meant that the Spaniard joins an elite list of players to have had a direct hand in ten league goals this season. The former Liverpool youngster is now the outright leader in terms of assists across Europe’s top five leagues, with seven, and continues to prove the Rossoneri’s most important player.
While his older brother may have relinquished a place in the top 20 this week, Thorgan Hazard is flying higher than ever, now up to third having scored a fifth league goal in his last six appearances.
There’s a return for Raheem Sterling, who qualifies once more having started in the victory at Tottenham, now doing so in six of the last eight league games, ranking fifth. He registered the assist for Riyad Mahrez’s match winner and has had a direct hand in at least one goal in five of said six outings.
The England international is joined by teammates Fernandinho and David Silva, ranking seventh and eleventh respectively, while there are places elshwhere in the top ten for fellow Premier League stars Willian (eighth) and Gyfli Sigurdsson (ninth), who were both on the scoresheet at the weekend.
Two Serie A stars complete the top ten, with Rodrigo de Paul continuing an excellent individual start to the season for lowly Udinese. The Argentine scored a goal and registered an assist in a 2-2 draw at Genoa at the weekend, taking his respectively tallies to five and three and ensuring he has had a hand in 80 per cent of his team’s total goals this season.
Marten de Roon is the other, while there are new qualifiers elsewhere in the form of Wissam Ben Yedder (12th), Willi Orban (14th), Alexandre Lacazette (15th) and Stephan El Shaarawy (17th).
Luis Suarez takes the final spot in the top 20, meanwhile, after a hat-trick in the Clasico thumping of Real Madrid having ended a run of four straight league games without a goal the week previous against Sevilla.
