WhoScored Tipster: This Week's Champions League Tips with Bet365
Bet365 are once again celebrating the Champions League knockout stages with another great offer for both new and existing customers. With Chelsea hosting PSG once again they are giving anyone who places a pre-match bet of up to £50 a risk-free in-play bet of the same value on Wednesday night’s clash.
Here we give our tips once again on all of this week’s mouth-watering Champions League action.
Real Madrid vs Roma: Gareth Bale to score anytime - Full Match Preview
It promises to be an open and entertaining affair at the Bernabeu, with in form Roma needing to go on the attack to have any chance of overturning a 2-goal deficit from the first leg. Real Madrid look set to be without key midfielders Kroos and Modric, but have been buoyed by the return of Gareth Bale. While Cristiano Ronaldo stole the show with four goals at the weekend the Welshman scored off the bench on his comeback from injury and is in line for his first start since January.
If Luciano Spaletti’s men commit numbers forward they will no doubt be exposed on the counter, with Bale hoping to profit from any defensive negligence. With 12 goals in his last 9 league outings and the same record at home in La Liga all season his odds @2.00 to score anytime are worth considering. For the more daring among you, in the same market Mo Salah is @4.33 and will again offer the Giallorossi’s greatest threat on the counter. He posed problems for Los Blancos in the first leg and has scored 5 goals in as many matches.
Wolfsburg vs Gent: Wolfsburg and BTTS - Full Match Preview
Wolfsburg appeared to have this tie all sewn up before being guilty of complacency, handing underdogs Gent a lifeline as a 3-0 lead was shortened to 3-2 at the final whistle. The Belgians have a lot to do, knowing they must score at least twice once again, so this game looks likely to be another open and free-scoring affair.
If the visitors do commit men forward you’d expect Dieter Hecking’s men to exploit any space on the counter through the likes of Draxler and Kruse. With their only defeats at home in all competitions this season coming to Bayern (twice) and Dortmund, the Wolves should make their advantage count but Gent will pose a threat against a side that - despite their excellent home record - have conceded in all but one of their last seven matches at the Volkswagen Arena. Wolfsburg to win with goals at both ends is at a very tempting @3.10.
Zenit vs Benfica: BTTS - No - Full Match Preview
It took 91 minutes for the deadlock to be broken in a cagey first leg, though Benfica were ultimately deserving of their late winner courtesy of top scorer Jonas. Against a Zenit side that have only just re-emerged from their long winter break the visitors will be confident of seeing the game out and may look to sit relatively deep as a result in what is likely to be tense affiar.
Andre Villas-Boas’ men have picked up where they left off last year, finding themselves in dismal form, and have failed to score in regular time in their three competitive fixtures in 2016. With these teams having met five times in the Champions League over the last four years, each of the last four meetings between the two have seen one or the other win to nil, so my tip is on the both teams to score market, opting for no @1.90.
Chelsea vs PSG: 0-0 at half-time - Full Match Preview
Similarly to the game previous on Wednesday I think Chelsea’s reception of PSG for the third time in as many seasons of the Champions League will be a nervy affair. With the tie so evenly balanced ahead of the second leg at Stamford Bridge both teams will be desperate to avoid conceding early on. The hosts in particular will be focused on keeping a clean sheet to ensure that they do not need to score twice against a PSG side that have conceded just two goals in the tournament to date. As a result I’d wager that this game will be goalless at the interval, just like the last meeting between the two in London. With odds @2.62 with bet365 on a 0-0 scoreline after 45 minutes, a £50 bet would return a tasty £81 as well as opening up a risk-free in-play bet of the same value.
The Blues may again look to hit the Ligue 1 champions on the counter but I think their most likely route to goal is once more from a set piece situation. It’s telling that Chelsea’s three goalscorers inside 90 minutes in the last three meetings between the two are Mikel, Cahill and Ivanovic. With the Londoners also conceding to former Blue David Luiz and Thiago Silva from set pieces in that time, I’d use my risk-free in-play bet on the market of ‘next goal’ coming from a set piece with the score at 0-0 to cover my pre-match bet to a certain extent.
