Fanteam Fantasy Football: Euro 2020 qualifiying tips revealed
Just because there is no Premier League football this weekend doesn't mean the fun has to stop on Fanteam Fantasy Football. The penultimate round of Euro 2020 qualifiers kick off on Thursday and there is money to be won on Fanteam Fantasy Football.
The task is simple. Pick 11 players from five pre-selected qualifiers on Thursday using your generous budget of 120M to have a chance of winning big, depending on the size of the contest you enter. There is a limit of three players per country so you make sure you make your choices wisely.
We are even prepared to reveal our XI, with in depth analysis about three of our choices. If you haven't signed up yet, get involved here!
Olivier Giroud (France) - 14.6M
This season has been immensely frustrating for Olivier Giroud, who has dropped below Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order for places at Chelsea. Giroud has started just one Premier League game and managed only three substitute appearances in the competition. It's therefore surprising that Giroud continues to make the France squad when they have a wealth of attacking options at their disposal, but it highlights how valued he is under Didier Deschamps.
Giroud offers something to France's attack unlike any of their other available strikers and it's why he continues to start games for the 2018 World Cup winners. He provides the perfect balance to speedsters with Kylian Mbappe and Kingsley Coman, while linking up well with Antoine Griezmann. Added to that, Giroud also scores goals for the national team. In fact only two players have netted more times for Les Bleus than Giroud.
France have qualification in sight for Euro 2020 and know if they beat Moldova on Thursday night they are there. Moldova are currently bottom of Group H with three points from eight matches. Giroud and Co. will be looking to fill their boots on Thursday night.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (England) - 10M
With Jordan Henderson suspended and Ross Barkley injured, Gareth Southgate will have to hand opportunities to two of his fringe players in central midfield on Thursday night. Mason Mount and James Maddison have attracted most attention heading into the international break but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has also worked his way back into the reckoning for England.
The 26-year-old is not a first-team regular for Liverpool but has caught the eye with some impressive displays in the last month and is knocking on the door for consistent playing time. Oxlade-Chamberlain has won the WhoScored Man of the Match award in two of his last three starts in all competitions and netted four goals in that period.
Nikola Milenkovic (Serbia) - 10.2M
Serbia are at least assured of a play-off spot if they fail to secure a top-two finish in Group B but their preference will be to qualify for Euro 2020 automatically. They currently trail Portugal by one point with two games remaining but face group leaders Ukraine in their final match.
First up for Serbia is Luxembourg, who have lost four of their last five qualifiers and sit second from bottom with four points from six games. Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is a no brainer for your Fanteam Fantasy Football XI but Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic should also be considered.
Serbia will expect to spend most of Thursday's game with Luxembourg on the front foot but that doesn't mean Milenkovic will only rack up points for a clean sheet. The highly-rated 22-year-old has shown an eye for goal for Fiorentina this season, impressively scoring three goals in 12 league appearances in Serie A.
