Pochettino not worried over top-4 after Tottenham held by West Ham
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino isn’t concerned about the possibility missing out on a top-4 spot after being held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham.
Spurs secured a 2-0 win over Swansea on Tuesday and welcomed the Hammers 48 hours after the win in south Wales, with West Ham themselves also playing for a second time this week after their 2-1 win over West Brom earlier in the week.
Tottenham dominated at Wembley, enjoying 70.8% possession and 31 shots to West Ham’s three, yet struggled to break their London rivals down until after they went behind courtesy of a thundering Pedro Obiang strike with 20 minutes left on the clock.
Pochettino may well consider it two points dropped, with Tottenham now three points behind fourth placed Liverpool, but he is not worried about potentially missing out on a top-4 spot after being held to another draw at Wembley.
“I am not thinking, I am not worried,” Pochettino said when asked on whether he is worried about missing out on a Champions League place.
“We are in the middle of the season and I think we are close (to the teams in the top-4). We missed a good opportunity today, but I think we are close”
Tottenham picked up 10 points of 12 available over the festive period, with wins over Burnley, Southampton and Swansea backed up by Thursday’s 1-1 draw with West Ham.
