Team News

QPR
WBA
  • Goalkeeper Paul Nardi and striker Zan Celar will make their debuts against West Brom, while Jonathan Varane and Hevertton should make the bench.
  • Marti Cifuentes is sweating over the fitness of three key players heading into the season opener with Ilias Chair, Lyndon Dykes and Morgan Fox doubtful.
  • Carlos Corberan may hand debuts to left-back Torbjorn Heggem, defensive midfielder Paddy McNair and winger Lewis Dobbin when West Brom travel to Loftus Road.
  • Wide duo Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace have both been ruled out for the trip to London, while new striker Devante Cole is rebuilding his fitness and is a doubt.

Prediction

  • QPR fans head into the 2024/25 campaign with tempered optimism after Marti Cifuentes transformed the London club's on-field product last term.
  • The Rs have recruited smartly this summer with the addition of striker Zan Celar particularly promising, although more depth in the wide areas and at centre-back is desired.
  • West Brom's summer has been disrupted by a transfer embargo and the drama surrounding their ongoing takeover, but in Carlos Corberan they at least have a steady presence in the dugout.
  • The Spaniard led the Baggies to the play-off semi-finals last season, but with several key men leaving the club already this summer, replicating that feat in 2024/25 will be a tough task.

  • Baggies baggies baggies …. Boing boing boing … my Brom won a game I thought would difficult

  • Great opening game between two attack minded sides. QPR have adjusted their game, but WBA should note by passing the midfield will aid them to get sight of goal more often. I’d go most entertaining game on day one with high scoring draw
