Team News

Dundee FC
St. Mirren
  • Dundee manager Tony Docherty made two changes from the Dee advancing into the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Airdrie, before they left it late to nick a 2-2 draw against Hibernian at Easter Road.
  • Billy Koumetio replaced Ethan Ingram in the Dundee back four, as Jordan McGhee moved out to right-back. They were joined by Antonio Portales and Ziyad Larkeche in the Dee's defence behind Jon McCracken who replaced Trevor Carson.
  • The midfield trio consisted of Luke McCowan, Mo Sylla and Lyall Cameron. Scott Tiffoney - who netted the opener in Edinburgh - and Seb Palmer-Houlden supported Simon Murray, who came back to haunt his former club, in attack.
  • St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson made five changes from Saints being knocked out of the Scottish League Cup by losing 1-0 to Dundee United, before a 3-0 defeat at home to Celtic back in Scottish Premiership duty on Sunday.
  • Richard Taylor came in to join Alex Iacovitti and Marcus Fraser in the Buddies' back three. Jaden Brown replaced Scott Tanser at left wing-back, as Shaun Rooney continued on the right-hand side.
  • Oisin Smyth, Roland Idowu and Fraser Taylor made way in midfield as Mark O'Hara and Killian Phillips, making his St Mirren debut, accompanied Alex Gogic in midfield. Jonah Ayunga returned in attack, to partner Toyosi Olusanya at Mikael Mandron's expense.

Prediction

  • Two of last season's top six in the Scottish Premiership meet at Dens Park, as Dundee host St Mirren on Saturday afternoon.
  • Dundee missed out on a first top-flight victory at Easter Road against Hibernian since October 2001, having taken the lead and fallen behind before a late leveller saw them leave Leith with a point. This season is the first time since the 2003/04 Scottish Premiership campaign, when they took six, that Dundee have taken five or more points from their opening three league matches.
  • St Mirren's miserable recent record against Celtic continued at the weekend, as they've won just once in their last 20 matches against the reigning champions in Paisley. Their sixteenth loss in 20 games at home to the Hoops is a familiar feeling, but the Buddies will be hopeful of bouncing back against Dundee who they beat in three of four meetings in last season's Scottish Premiership.
  • St Mirren's record against Dundee was impressive last season, but the Dee have started this season strongly and will fancy sneaking past Saints this weekend.
