Team News

Ross County
St. Johnstone
  • Ross County boss Don Cowie made three changes after the Staggies succumbed to a late goal which saw Aberdeen leave Dingwall with all three points before the international break, before bouncing back with a 2-0 win over Dundee last Saturday.
  • Elijah Campbell made his first Staggies start in defence, joining goalscorer Akil Wright and Kacper Lopata at the back. George Harmon and James Brown kept their places at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively.
  • Noah Chilvers replaced Aidan Denholm to join Connor Randall and Josh Nisbet in midfield. Jordan White, who sealed the deal from the spot, partnered Ronan Hale at Eamonn Brophy's expense in the Highlands last weekend.
  • Two changes were made after Saints lost 2-1 at home to Motherwell in their final Scottish Premiership match before the international break, as Craig Levein's tenure as St Johnstone manager came to an end with a 2-0 loss to Hibernian.
  • Aaron Essel moved into defence, as Jack Sanders missed the trip to Edinburgh through suspension, joining Kyle Cameron and Lewis Neilson at the back. Cammy MacPherson made way in midfield as Sven Sprangler and Jason Holt started.
  • Andre Raymond and Drey Wright continued at left wing-back and right wing-back respectively. Matt Smith kept his place in the middle of the park, looking to provide for Nicky Clark and Benji Kimpioka who was sent off at Easter Road.

Prediction

  • The last two teams to have maintained their top tier status through the Scottish Premiership play-offs, Ross County and St Johnstone, go head-to-head in the Highlands this weekend.
  • Ross County had failed to win each of their four matches of a top-flight season for just the third time, after 2014/15 and 2021/22, but got off the mark in Dingwall against Dundee last time out. County won just one of their four league meetings against Saints last season, a 2-0 victory in the first of the four matches the two teams played, so will aim to put their recent winless run to bed this weekend.
  • St Johnstone have lost four of their five matches in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, therefore resulting in Craig Levein leaving the club despite preserving the Perth club's top tier status last season. After the former Scotland boss steadied the ship, Saints are on the lookout for a new manager with discipline - three sendings off in as many matches - proving a real inconvenience.
  • St Johnstone will hope for some inspiration from a new voice but, given they won at home last weekend, Ross County will fancy their chances of claiming consecutive quickfire home victories.
