Joe Hart emerges as surprise target for French outfit

Lille are interested in signing Joe Hart from Burnley this summer, claims The Daily Mail.

Hart is free to leave Burnley after dropping down the pecking order at Turf Moor last season.

Burnley are even willing to let Hart leave on a free transfer, which has caught the attention of French side Lille.

Hart, who has previously played abroad for Torino, has also been linked with moves to Stoke and Bournemouth this summer.

The 32-year-old is open to another stint abroad despite his underwhelming performances at Torino in 2016/17.

Lille’s current first-choice goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

United are still locked in contract talks with David de Gea but there is a chance they will need to sign a replacement over the next 12 months, with Maginan earmarked as a potential target.

Moving to Lille would remarkable hand Hart the opportunity to play in the Champions League after the French side finished second behind Paris Saint-Germain last term.

Of goalkeepers to have made at least 30 appearances over the last two Premier League campaigns, only Asmir Begovic (60%) has a worse save success rate than Hart (60.7%).
