Arsenal are making one last push to convince Mesut Ozil to stay at the Emirates Stadium, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners are hoping to persuade the Germany international to remain in north London beyond January and the end of the season.
Ozil’s current deal expires next year and from the beginning of January, he is free to negotiate to a pre-contract with foreign teams.
Barcelona have been linked with a move for the 29-year-old, while Manchester United have been keeping tabs on Ozil.
A switch to Old Trafford would see the creator link up with Jose Mourinho once more, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has not given up hope that he can persuade Ozil to stay.
"Negotiations as always are going on with everybody. Our door is always open. For the rest, I can't tell you much more,” Wenger said after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Wenger is also desperate to retain Alexis Sanchez’s services, though the Chilean has his heart set on a move away from Arsenal in the New Year, with Manchester City leading the way to sign the former Barcelona man.
