Team News

Kilmarnock
Dundee United
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named three changes to the Killie team that was knocked out of the Scottish Cup in a 2-1 defeat to Celtic in Glasgow, before they lost on their travels again in a 3-2 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle last weekend.
  • Kieran O'Hara replaced the injured Robby McCrorie in goal behind Robbie Deas, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo in the Killie backline. Calvin Ramsay made his Killie debut, on loan from Liverpool, at right wing-back in Edinburgh.
  • Fraser Murray joined Liam Polworth and the incoming Kyle Magennis in midfield as Liam Donnelly and Brad Lyons made way. Bobby Wales, who netted Killie's equaliser at Parkhead, accompanied Marley Watkins in attack.
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named three changes to the Terrors team that was knocked out of the Scottish Cup by losing to Dundee at Dens in the derby 1-0, before a 3-1 defeat to Rangers at Tannadice last Sunday afternoon.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal behind a back four of Ryan Strain, Declan Gallagher, Kevin Holt and Will Ferry as United changed shape. Emmanuel Adegboyega dropped onto the bench, as Luca Stephenson and Vicko Sevelj were chosen in midfield.
  • Kai Fotheringham and Glenn Middleton started on the flanks, in support of Ruari Paton - who made his Terrors debut after signing on loan from Port Vale - and the division's top scorer Sam Dalby.

Prediction

  • Both Kilmarnock and Dundee United couldn't put their Scottish Cup exits behind them, as both teams lost on their return to Scottish Premiership action last weekend.
  • Kilmarnock had only lost one of their last 10 Scottish Premiership trips to Tynecastle, before a disappointing defeat to Hearts in Edinburgh last Saturday. Killie's away day struggles continued, as they've now gone seven consecutive league matches - eight in all competitions - on their travels without a victory. Now in the relegation playoff place, it's up to Killie to start climbing the table.
  • Only Celtic have picked up more Scottish Premiership points on their travels than Dundee United this season from their 12 away games each. The Terrors have lost four of their last five matches in all competitions, albeit they've played last season's top three and city rivals Dundee, but are hoping to bounce back with a win this weekend to ultimately strengthen their grip on third.
  • Late levelers for Kilmarnock in Dundee and United in Ayrshire mean that the previous two league meetings have ended in draws, so a third in succession would be no great surprise.
