Team News

Hibernian
Aberdeen
  • Hibernian manager David Gray named five changes to the Hibs team that beat non-league Clydebank of the West of Scotland Premier Division 3-0 in the Scottish Cup, before a disappointing draw in Dingwall where they were held by Ross County 1-1.
  • Goalkeeper Jordan Smith kept his place between the sticks behind an unchanged trio of Jack Iredale, Rocky Bushiri and Warren O'Hora. The Cadden brothers returned on either flank at Lewis Miller and Rudi Molotnikov's expense.
  • Goalscorer Dylan Levitt kept his place in the middle of the park, joined by Nectarios Triantis and Josh Campbell who replaced Kwon Hyeok-Kyu and Junior Hoilett. Dwight Gayle partnered Martin Boyle in attack up in the Highlands.
  • Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin named five changes to the Dons team that beat Elgin City at Borough Briggs in the Scottish Cup with a 3-0 win, before they were swept aside by St Mirren at Pittodrie where they lost by the same scoreline.
  • Ross Doohan continued in goal behind an unchanged back four of Alexander Jensen, Kristers Tobers, Slobodan Rubezic and Nicky Devlin. Graeme Shinnie returned at Ante Palaversa's expense to join Sivert Nilsen in front of the Dons defence.
  • Topi Keskinen, Leighton Clarkson and Jeppe Okkels replaced Shayden Morris, Dante Polvara and Duk. Pape Guèye replaced Peter Ambrose in the starting XI last weekend, to start as the Dons' sole striker.

Prediction

  • Just five points separate Hibernian in sixth place in the Scottish Premiership and fourth-placed Aberdeen, a situation which seemed impossible just a few months ago.
  • The Hibees are among the most in-form teams in the entire division recently, unbeaten in eight Scottish Premiership matches, despite a few disappointing draws in recent games such as being held in the Highlands by Ross County last weekend. Having come from behind to beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie in December, Hibs will hope to get the better of the Dons at home this weekend too.
  • Aberdeen started the season in emphatic fashion, before a degrading defeat to St Mirren at Pittodrie last weekend ensured that the Dons have gone 13 Scottish Premiership matches without a victory. 10 victories from their first 11 league games seems like it happened a lifetime ago, with the Reds hopeful of a resurgence to save their season that would ideally start this Saturday.
  • The two league meetings between Hibernian and Aberdeen this season have seen 10 goals, but the most in-form team in the division should take care of the out-of-sorts visitors in Edinburgh.
