Team News

Hearts
Kilmarnock
  • Hearts boss Neil Critchley named four changes after the Jambos' disappointing goalless draw against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, before they were given a scare but cruised past Highland League outfit Brechin City 4-1 last Friday night.
  • Craig Gordon remained in goal behind Craig Halkett, Jamie McCart and James Penrice in the Jambos' defence. Adam Forrester replaced Daniel Oyegoke at right-back, with Gerald Taylor making a return from injury off the bench.
  • Beni Baningime and Cammy Devlin continued as the midfield duo chosen to sit in front of the Hearts defence. Musa Drammeh and Blair Spittal made way for Kenneth Vargas and Yan Dhanda in the wide areas, joining Jorge Grant in support of the sole striker Elton Kabangu who bagged a brace at James Wilson's expense.
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named just one change to the Killie team despite their goalless draw at home to Motherwell in their last Scottish Premiership match, before being knocked out of the Scottish Cup in a 2-1 defeat to Celtic in Glasgow.
  • Robby McCrorie continued in goal behind Robbie Deas, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo in the Killie backline. Brad Lyons was joined by Liam Polworth and Liam Donnelly, as opposed to Kyle Magennis, in the middle of the park.
  • Fraser Murray started on the right-hand side of the five-man midfield, as Corrie Ndaba continued on the left-hand side. Bobby Wales, who netted Killie's equaliser at Parkhead, accompanied Marley Watkins in attack.

Prediction

  • Heart of Midlothian progressed in the Scottish Cup last weekend, unlike a Kilmarnock team that they have lost both Scottish Premiership meetings against so far this season.
  • The Jambos were given a fright at Glebe Park, as a wondergoal saw Brechin City take the lead before a commanding and professional second-half performance saw Hearts advance into the round of 16 in Scotland's premier cup competition. The men in maroon travel to Paisley to take on St Mirren in the next round, but should feel optimistic here as they're unbeaten in four league games.
  • Kilmarnock crashed out of the Scottish Cup after a tough draw saw Killie travel to Glasgow to take on league leaders Celtic, but they gave a good account of themselves despite defeat to the cup holders. They turned their last trip to Tynecastle, a happy hunting ground in recent years, on its head and a sole goal was enough to see off Hearts in Ayrshire despite a numerical disadvantage.
  • Hearts haven't beaten Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership since December 2023, but the Jambos may feel as though they can take care of Killie following a few of their recent results.
