Team News

Dundee United
Rangers
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named two changes to the Terrors team that snuck past St Mirren 1-0 in Paisley, before they were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by losing to Dundee at Dens in the derby by the same scoreline.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal behind a centre-back trio of Kevin Holt, Declan Gallagher and Ross Graham - who took Ross Docherty's place in the team. Will Ferry remained at left wing-back, with Ryan Strain on the right-hand side.
  • Vicko Sevelj was joined in midfield by Emmanuel Adegboyega as United changed shape. Luca Stephenson supported a strike duo of Louis Moult, who replaced Glenn Middleton in the United team, and the division's top scorer Sam Dalby.
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named six changes to the Gers' 5-0 victory over Highland League opponents Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup, before a late loss to Manchester United in the Europa League as they were defeated 2-1.
  • Jack Butland returned in goal on Thursday night. James Tavernier, Leon Balogun and Jefte were joined in the Gers defence by Robin Pröpper as opposed to Clinton Nsiala. Nico Raskin replaced the suspended Mohamed Diomande in midfield.
  • Nedim Bajrami was joined by Vaclav Cerny and Ridvan Yilmaz against the Red Devils, as they replaced Zak Lovelace and Ross McCausland. Hamza Igamane replaced Cyriel Dessers, who came off the bench to score a magnificent equaliser in Manchester.

Prediction

  • Third meets second heading into Saturday's Scottish Premiership fixtures, as Dundee United and Rangers go toe-to-toe at Tannadice in Sunday's sole Scottish Premiership fixture.
  • United moved two points clear of Aberdeen after leaving it late to beat St Mirren in Paisley in their last league match before Hearts held the Dons at Pittodrie, but they'll be disappointed with a Dundee derby defeat in the Scottish Cup for the first time since 1956. They lost by a sole goal to Rangers at Tannadice in September, but are the only Scottish Premiership team to leave Ibrox with a point this season.
  • Rangers succumbed to a late sickener at Old Trafford as the Gers nicked an 88th-minute equaliser, before throwing the point away to Manchester United in their midweek meeting on Thursday night. Having cruised into the last 16 of the Scottish Cup with a win over Fraserburgh, where they'll meet Scottish Championship outfit Queen's Park, there's ground to make up in the league as they're closer to United than Celtic.
  • Dundee United have caused Rangers problems this season, but the Gers snuck past the Terrors at Tannadice in September so will be aiming to find another way of doing so on Sunday.
