Team News

Celtic
Dundee FC
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named four changes to the Celts side that lost 4-2 to Aston Villa in their final league phase Champions League match, as the Bhoys bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon.
  • Kasper Schmeichel carried on in goal. Anthony Ralston and Cameron Carter-Vickers came in to the right hand side of the defence, replacing Alistair Johnston and Liam Scales to join Auston Trusty and Greg Taylor.
  • Luke McCowan took Arne Engels' spot in midfield, joining Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate. Daizen Maeda also entered the starting eleven, at Hyun-Jun Yang's expense to join Nicolas Kühn in support of Adam Idah in attack.
  • Dundee manager Tony Docherty made two changes from the Dee's 1-0 win in the derby against Dundee United at Dens Park in the Scottish Cup fourth round, before their return to league action was a 6-0 humbling at home to Hearts.
  • Trevor Carson remained in goal behind Ryan Astley, Clark Robertson and Aaron Donnelly in the Dee back three. Mo Sylla and Cesar Garza were joined by Lyall Cameron in the middle of the park once again.
  • The only two changes came in the wing-back roles, with Josh Mulligan replacing Ethan Ingram on the right and Imari Samuels taking Fin Robertson's place on the left. Derby day hero Simon Murray partnered Oluwaseun Adewumi in attack.

Prediction

  • Celtic returned to winning ways at the weekend in the Scottish Premiership, but Dundee were dismantled in their last league outing after previously picking up some impressive results.
  • Celtic's incredible recent record against Motherwell continued, as the Hoops have now gone 20 visits to Fir Park unbeaten and haven't lost to the Well in 34 meetings since defeat at Celtic Park in December 2015. The league leaders sit 10 points ahead of Rangers before playing this midweek match, their game in hand, so could extend the gap to 13 points with 13 league matches to play with a win.
  • Dundee, who were minutes away from claiming a long-awaited victory over Celtic as the two teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Dens Park last month, stand in their way but the Dee were destroyed as Hearts hit them for six at the weekend. Their last win against the Hoops came at Parkhead in May 2001, and they went toe-to-toe with them recently, but this is a tough test of character.
  • Despite the two teams playing out a topsy-turvy six-goal thriller in January, Celtic beat Dundee comfortably in their first league meeting of the season and should do so again here.
