Team News

Rangers
Ross County
  • Rangers manager Philippe Clement named two changes to the Gers' 3-1 victory over Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday, as they advanced into the Europa League round of 16 thanks to a 2-1 win over Royale Union Saint-Gilloise.
  • Jack Butland returned in goal on Thursday night at Ibrox. James Tavernier, Leon King, who was making his first start of the season, Robin Pröpper and Jefte made up the back four as Clinton Nsiala wasn't eligible for their midweek match.
  • Nico Raskin, who scored the Gers' opener, joined Mohamed Diomande in front of the back four. Vaclav Cerny marked his return to the team with the winning goal, replacing Ianis Hagi, to join Nedim Bajrami and Hamza Igamane in support of Cyriel Dessers up front.
  • Ross County boss Don Cowie made four changes after the Staggies were knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Championship opponents Livingston 3-2 after extra time, before they held Hibs to a 1-1 draw in Dingwall last Saturday afternoon.
  • Jordan Amissah remained in goal as Jonathan Tomkinson made his County debut in the back three alongside Elijah Campbell and Akil Wright. Club captain Connor Randall returned at Nohan Kenneh's expense to join Josh Nisbet in midfield.
  • James Brown started at right wing-back, with another debutant Zac Ashworth replacing George Harmon on the left. George Robesten was recalled from his loan spell at Brora Rangers so joined Noah Chilvers in support of Jordan White as Ronan Hale dropped onto the bench.

Prediction

  • Second top hosts third bottom, heading into this weekend's Scottish Premiership matches, as Rangers take on Ross County at Ibrox this Sunday afternoon.
  • The Gers impressively advanced into the Europa League's round of 16, after beating Belgian outfit Royal Union Saint-Gilloise at Ibrox to secure their spot in the top eight places of the league phase table. Domestically, they are still behind league leaders Celtic - despite being unbeaten in the league since Boxing Day - so there's making up to do to coincide with their continental exploits.
  • Ross County got over their disappointing defeat in the Scottish Cup to Championship opponents Livingston, as they held an in-form Hibs in the Highlands courtesy of a draw in Dingwall. Sat in tenth, before Kilmarnock host Dundee United on Saturday, their eyes will be cast on Rugby Park's goings-on as the Staggies aim to keep their heads above water and away from the relegation playoff place.
  • Rangers have won both league meetings against Ross County home and away this season without conceding, so the Gers should sweep the Staggies aside on Sunday at Ibrox.
