Team News

Celtic
Dundee United
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named eight changes to the Celts side that progressed in the Scottish Cup with a 5-0 victory over Raith Rovers, before a 2-1 defeat to German giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League playoff first leg.
  • Kasper Schmeichel replaced Viljami Sinisalo in goal. Anthony Ralston, Dane Murray, Liam Scales and Jeffrey Schlupp were the back four against Raith but were replaced by Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Greg Taylor. Luke McCowan, Paulo Bernardo and Hyun-Jun Yang also made way.
  • Callum McGregor was one of three players to start both games, and he was joined by Reo Hatate and Arne Engels in midfield for their midweek match. Hat-trick hero Daizen Maeda accompanied Nicolas Kühn, in support of Adam Idah in attack.
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named two changes to the Terrors team that lost 3-1 to Rangers at Tannadice, before a sole goal saw them lose 1-0 to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park in their last Scottish Premiership match.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal behind a back three of Declan Gallagher, Kevin Holt and the incoming Emmanuel Adegboyega as United changed shape. Will Ferry started at left wing-back, with Ryan Strain continuing at right wing-back.
  • Luca Stephenson and Vicko Sevelj were joined by debutant Allan Campbell in midfield. Kai Fotheringham and Glenn Middleton made way, as Ruari Paton and the Scottish Premiership's top scorer Sam Dalby continued to lead the line.

Prediction

  • Two of the Scottish Premiership's current top three teams meet at Parkhead, as Celtic host Dundee United in one of four league matches taking place on Saturday afternoon.
  • Celtic hosted Bayern Munich in their midweek match as the two teams went toe-to-toe in the first leg of their Champions League playoff, and narrowly lost out to the German giants in Glasgow. After booking their slot in the Scottish Cup last eight, with bitter rivals Rangers knocked out of the competition, they'll have their eyes on the prize and aim to continue dominating domestically.
  • Dundee United had no fixture last weekend so will hope to have used their time wisely and rest, recuperate and ultimately go back to the drawing board after three straight defeats in all competitions. Despite falling to five defeats in their last six matches, the Terrors are still sat in third place for the time being. However, tests don't come much tougher than Celtic at Parkhead.
  • Dundee United haven't scored in either of their two league meetings with Celtic so, despite holding the Hoops at home, the Terrors should be swept aside by the Celts on Saturday.
