Team News

Kilmarnock
St. Johnstone
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named three changes to the Killie team that lost on their travels in a 3-2 loss to Hearts at Tynecastle, before they bounced back with a sole goal success over Dundee United at home the weekend before last.
  • Kieran O'Hara continued in goal, behind a back three of Corrie Ndaba, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo as Robbie Deas dropped out of defence. Kyle Magennis was joined by Brad Lyons and David Watson in midfield at Liam Polworth's expense.
  • Fraser Murray moved out to the left-hand side of the midfield quintet, with the incoming Danny Armstrong replacing Calvin Ramsay on the right. Bobby Wales lead the line, alongside Marley Watkins who netted the winner against United.
  • St Johnstone boss Simo Valakari named four changes to the Saints side that snuck past St Mirren in Paisley courtesy of a sole goal, before beating Hamilton Accies in the Scottish Cup on Saturday in Perth by the same 1-0 scoreline.
  • Andy Fisher replaced Ross Sinclair in goal, behind a back three of Sven Sprangler, Bozo Mikulic and Saints debutant Daniels Balodis who replaced Barry Douglas. Drey Wright continued at left wing-back with Sam Curtis chosen on the right.
  • Jason Holt made way for Jonathan Svedberg to make his debut in midfield along Elliot Watt. Taylor Steven joined Victor Griffith, at Graham Carey's expense, to support sole striker Makenzie Kirk in last weekend's win.

Prediction

  • Kilmarnock were out of action last weekend, as St Johnstone left it late to book their place in the last eight of the Scottish Cup with victory over Championship opponents Hamilton Accies in Perth.
  • Kilmarnock have had a week to rest and recuperate, after a hard-fought sole-goal success over Dundee United in their last league match the weekend before last. Up to ninth spot, Killie are as far from fourth - seven points - as they are from Saints at the bottom of the Premiership pile so will be hoping to create some distance between them and Saints with a victory at home this weekend.
  • St Johnstone squeezed past second tier side Hamilton Accies to advance into the last eight of the Scottish Cup at the weekend, where they'll face another Championship outfit (Livingston) in the quarter-finals. A step away from Hampden, back-to-back Scottish Premiership victories have seen Saints slowly start to close the gap between themselves and a few sides directly above them.
  • Despite Saints sneaking past Killie at home in November and crushing them in Kilmarnock back in August, the hosts have had extra time to prepare for this one and they'll hope to put that to good use against the visitors this weekend.
