Team News

Aberdeen
Kilmarnock
  • Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin named an unchanged Dons team after their 3-0 victory over Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup, before they won their first league game since November with a 2-1 victory over Dundee at Dens Park.
  • Ross Doohan continued in goal, despite Dimitar Mitov returning from injury to sit on the bench. Jack MacKenzie, Mats Knoester, Kristers Tobers and Alexander Jensen started as the Dons defence.
  • Sivert Nilsen joined Ante Palaversa in front of the back four. Topi Keskinen and Jeppe Okkels were chosen on the flanks, to support Pape Guèye and Kevin Nisbet up front.
  • Kilmarnock boss Derek McInnes named two changes to the Killie team that clinched a sole goal success over Dundee United at Rugby Park, before they beat St Johnstone 3-1 at home last weekend.
  • Kieran O'Hara continued in goal, behind a back three of the incoming Robbie Deas, Joe Wright and Lewis Mayo. Corrie Ndaba moved to the left-hand side of midfield, with Fraser Murray moving to the right and Danny Armstrong dropped.
  • Kyle Magennis and Brad Lyons were joined by Liam Polworth in midfield, at David Watson's expense. Bobby Wales lead the line, alongside Marley Watkins once again.

Prediction

  • Seven points separate third-placed Aberdeen and Kilmarnock in seventh spot, ahead of the two teams going head-to-head at Pittodrie on Saturday afternoon.
  • Aberdeen have now won all three of their league meetings with Dundee this season after their success last Saturday, as the Dons picked up their first Scottish Premiership victory since the second weekend of November 2024 where they beat the Dee 4-1. Having been battered at Rugby Park by Killie on Boxing Day, they'll want a repeat of the first league meeting where they beat them at home in August.
  • After their victory over St Johnstone at Rugby Park last weekend, Kilmarnock have won back-to-back Scottish Premiership matches for the second time this season after previously doing so in October. Killie have been up and down like a yo-yo this season, as most teams in the league have, but they proved last season by finishing fourth that they can finish in the upper echelons of the league table.
  • The home team has won both league meetings so far this season so, despite Killie's recent form, Aberdeen will fancy their chances against Kilmarnock at Pittodrie this weekend.
