Team News

Hibernian
Celtic
  • Hibernian manager David Gray named two changes to the Hibs team that left it late to sneak past Championship opponents Ayr United in the Scottish Cup, before the Hibees were held to a goalless draw in Paisley against St Mirren on Sunday.
  • Goalkeeper Jordan Smith kept his place between the sticks behind an unchanged trio of Jack Iredale, Rocky Bushiri and Warren O'Hora. Nicky Cadden continued on the left-hand side of midfield, with his brother Chris on the right-hand side.
  • Nectarios Triantis and Kwon Hyeok-Kyu - who replaced Dylan Levitt - sat in front of the defensive trio, with Josh Campbell a bit further forward. Dwight Gayle replaced Mykola Kukhareyvch, to partner Martin Boyle in attack.
  • Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers named four changes to the Celts side that eased past Dundee United 3-0 at Parkhead in their last league game, before late heartbreak in the Champions League as they crashed out against German giants Bayern Munich.
  • Kasper Schmeichel continued between the sticks. Greg Taylor, Auston Trusty and Cameron Carter-Vickers were joined by Alistair Johnston in the back four as opposed to Anthony Ralston.
  • Arne Engels replaced Luke McCowan in midfield, to join Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate. Jota and Nicolas Kühn replaced Yang Hyun-Jun and Adam Idah, as Daizen Maeda started through the middle in Munich in midweek.

Prediction

  • A Scottish Cup quarter-final dress rehearsal takes place, albeit at a different venue but with the same teams, as Hibernian host Celtic at Easter Road on Saturday lunchtime.
  • Hibernian have gone 10 Scottish Premiership matches without defeat for the first time since April 2019, albeit the Hibees will be disappointed at the draw against St Mirren in Paisley last weekend. Hibs haven't beaten Celtic in their last six meetings, since a 4-2 victory over the Hoops at Easter Road in May 2023, and have lost all three meetings against them in two competitions this season.
  • Celtic are looking to get over their heartbreak in Germany on Tuesday night, as a late leveller for Bayern Munich on the night saw the German giants scrape through against the Celts in the Champions League playoff. It's back to domestic matters for the league leaders, as they look to move 16 points clear at the top of the table before Saturday afternoon's matches are underway.
  • Hibernian will feel confident that they can hurt Celtic, but the Hoops have won all three meetings with the Hibees this season so will hope to make it four from four at lunchtime on Saturday.
