Team News

Benfica
Monaco
  • Florentino is suspended after reaching a yellow card milestone, and is joined on the naughty step by Bruma, who carries over a ban from the Europa League.
  • Angel Di Maria is absent due to injury, with Andreas Schjelderup set to deputise.
  • Benfica have issues in midfield with Renato Sanches and Fredrik Aursnes absent, while defenders Manu Silva, Tomas Araujo and Manu Silva are also missing on Tuesday night.
  • Al Musrati is suspended after his red card in the first leg, while Denis Zakaria and Vanderson are banned owing to yellow card accumulation.
  • With Jordan Teze and Wilfried Singo injured, Thilo Kehrer is expected to start at right-back, while Christian Mawissa, who has served a ban of his own, is expected to start at centre-back.
  • Aleksandr Golovin, Soungoutou Magassa and Folarin Balogun miss out due to injury.

Prediction

  • Vangelis Pavlidis' second half strike is the difference between the two sides ahead of Tuesday's second leg. Benfica may hold a slender advantage, but come into the welcome of Monaco with a number of key players missing.
  • Similarly, though, Monaco have their fair share of absentee concerns and have a dire away record of late having won only once on the road since the start of December, and have lost five of their last six on the road.
  • Monaco can at least call upon the in-form Mika Biereth to lead the charge, but with home advantage; Benfica are favourites to book their last-16 spot.
