Team News

Rangers
Dundee United
  • Rangers boss Philippe Clement made two changes from the Gers' 1-1 draw in Greece away to Olympiakos in their last Europa League match, before a 1-0 victory over Hearts at Ibrox prior to the international break.
  • Jack Butland continued in goal, as club captain James Tavernier returned in the back four at Dujon Sterling's expense. Leon Balogun returned to partner John Souttar in defence, as Robin Pröpper made way, with Jefte remaining at left-back.
  • Connor Barron and Nico Raskin sat in front of the back four, with Mohamed Diomande in front of them. Nedim Bajrami and Vaclav Cerny supported Cyriel Dessers up front, who netted his third goal in as many games against Hearts.
  • Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin named one change to the Terrors team that left it late to grab a point at Easter Road against Hibernian in a 1-1 draw, before they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Ross County before the international break.
  • Jack Walton continued in goal behind a back three of Kevin Holt, Declan Gallagher and Emmanuel Adegboyega. Will Ferry remained at left wing-back and Ryan Strain continued at right wing-back.
  • David Babunski and Vicko Sevelj were given the nod in the middle of the park. Glenn Middleton made way as Luca Stephenson supported strike duo Jort van der Sande and Sam Dalby, who has bagged three goals in as many league matches.

Prediction

  • Third meets fourth as Rangers host Dundee United in one of four Scottish Premiership matches on Saturday afternoon at Ibrox.
  • The Gers kept their excellent recent record against Hearts going, as they're now unbeaten in 17 matches against the Jambos since a Scottish Cup defeat in February 2020. Rangers booked their place in the Scottish League Cup final, picked up an impressive point in Europe, and responded to the top two winning before the break. Rested and recuperated, they'll look to get going again.
  • Dundee United recorded an emphatic victory over Ross County at Tannadice before the international break, ending the Staggies' longest unbeaten run - three games - against them in the Scottish top tier. The Terrors lost at home to Rangers by a sole goal in September, the Gers' only league victory away from home, so will be out for revenge in an attempt to pull level on points with the Gers.
  • The previous league meeting wasn't a classic on Tayside, but Rangers squeezed past United in Dundee and will hope to do so again in Glasgow this weekend.
